The first APPG Boxing meeting of 2018 is to be held between 10.00 - 11.30 on Tuesday 30th January.
The meeting will focus on women in boxing: exploring how we can increase participation and representation of women in boxing going forward, as well as how to empower women through sport more generally.
We are pleased to announce that there will be three speakers joining us for this event:
Natasha Jonas, a professional boxer from Liverpool and the first ever British female boxer to compete at an Olympic Games, has kindly agreed to speak at the meeting to share some experiences from her career, as well as her thoughts on how to increase the participation of women in boxing going forward.
Also speaking at the meeting will be Heather Smith, Senior Innovation Manager at Women In Sport - the UK's leading women's sport charity. Women in Sport's mission is to advance gender equality through and within sport, and will be able to provide insight into how sports such as boxing can help empower women and girls nationwide.
Finally, Hilary Lissenden, England Boxing’s first female Boxing Director, will be joining the meeting to speak about inclusivity and positive action in boxing. She is currently the only national grade female boxing Referee & Judge and co-founder of London Community Boxing, a charity based on the power of boxing to break down barriers, revitalise communities, and empower individuals.
